Laughing Lincoln

The city of Naperville wanted to show Lincoln as the carefree and hilarious young man that he was in about 1839 - before marrying Mary Todd and shouldering the burdens of a nation ripped apart by Civil War. In his younger days, he was known to love a rip-roaring chin wag, and often told stories so well that his listeners fell down with laughter. If you look closely, you’ll see that his boots are worn, his pants are patched, the buttons on his clothes are hand carved from wood.
